I donated a drawing “Bicheno storm front” 2009 to this worthy cause. The foundation seeks to aid children in impoverished circumstances.
This watercolour was painted on a family holiday to Bicheno on the Tasmanian coast, from the holiday house with a vista taking in the coast and hills. The rain clouds rolling in across the sea intersect the vertical of the coast and the hills in the composition. The contrast of light with shadow and the conflict of sea and land allow colour to be liberally used to give a sense of this majestic place.
The auction, held at the Menzies Gallery in South Yarra at 3.30pm on Sunday 26 August 2012, is an opportunity to purchase affordable works from established and emerging Australian artists.
