Hazards, Freycinet 2009

The painting in the portfolio is of the range of the hazards on the Freycinet peninsula in Tasmania.  It is based on a small watercolour and ink drawing (above) I did from the lookout point to wineglass bay across to the rocks of the Hazards.  In terms of process, the drawing leads into the painting and I am not a pleinair painter as such.  With such big canvasses I have an image of me attempting  to paint out doors and the wind taking me off on a Mary Poppins adventure beneath the canvas.
