Oil on linen
152 x 183 cm
This is my Archibald entry of 2007, of Julian Burnside in chambers.
The panel behind him contains acrostics such as child/board and Shostakovich’s name as is music played while I was drawing this busy, interesting and engaging man.
The painting was proportioned using string line arcs and the surfaces built up in layers of colour and texture, then glazed.
The dining table at which he works is not stated as a single planar surface but varies in level as a Cezanne inspired playing with picture space.
