I have noticed a trend to landscape in recent posts. So on to fauna.
I recently refinished and framed these 3 sketches based on xray paintings of sleeping cats which I did some years ago. Sorry a bit of shine from the light on the image. The images were individual before framing based on this concept:

This is the drawing from a visit to Freycinet in Tasmania in 2009 which I developed into a large scale canvas. It is a view across the mountains from the lookout above wineglass bay, in pencil, ink, wash and watercolour:

with activated marks and use of paint enlivening the surface and forms. The painting contains a rebus (visual pun) in the purple sky as a reference to Streeton’s ‘The purple noon’s transparent might‘ – National Gallery of Victoria.
I did an ink wash and watercolour drawing at Bicheno in 2009 called Bicheno storm front.
After it sold in 2012 I was looking at the image and have been working on it on a shaped canvas, transmuting it to an abstracted set of forms. This is where it was a little while back:
Looking back through images of paintings I came across this image from 2005 or so, painted in Adelaide of “Bonython’s view” across hill ranges near Mount Lofty. This painting is contoured and textured ranging from the raw weave of linen at bottom left to layered and glazed paint at top and centre. It configures as a landscape but also works as abstract forms.
