Looking back through images of paintings I came across this image from 2005 or so, painted in Adelaide of “Bonython’s view” across hill ranges near Mount Lofty. This painting is contoured and textured ranging from the raw weave of linen at bottom left to layered and glazed paint at top and centre. It configures as a landscape but also works as abstract forms.
The third watercolour/pen and ink is across the city and hill edge from lookout point. The focus is on the contrast of built environment with the organic forms. To this end the hatching and over patterning is evident.
These are a few drawings/watercolour sketches I did when in Adelaide recently. The first is of tree forms and its focus is on forms in the interlacing of tree limbs. The second below is again focussing on the forms ascending the hillside as a motif and seeks out curved shapes and forms.
