I went to the Semaphore kite festival in South Australia a week or so ago.  I was struggling with a drawing board in the wind and it was a wonder I didn’t have my watercolour join the kites in the air.

Absentee landlord

I have had a busy end to 2012 and a busy start to 2013.  Setting up my studio after moving has taken time and effort.  However, it is done and four paintings are underway now.  More details and images soon.

Mont Ventoux

In the south of France we were staying near Mont Ventoux, which is a splendid icon of the landscape and of sport.  I drew it from the field behind our friend’s house.  It has been placed on the page in order to emphasise it.

The work is on paper and is a mixed media work, in pencil, ink and wash and watercolour.

Pineapple

The Landmark Trust has a property near Stirling called “the Pineapple” and it is strange and lovely- more to my taste than the big koala at Dadswell’s bridge due to the surreal feel of it in the middle of Scotland.  Anyway I drew it too.  Who would have thought they could be grown in Scotland, let alone built in sandstone.
