I have been working on a canvas based on drawing of the landscape I did a few years back on a trip from Adelaide to Melbourne near the SA border with Victoria. The canvas is stretched over a form which is extreme- it moves from concave at one end to convex at the other to contravert the concept of picture plane and that a painting has to take on a window like form…lots of surface texture and glazes too. Finally done.
I was particularly amused by Morris, the cat in Mexico running for a political office. A cat as a public servant? Anyway my cat Daphne decided to campaign and is attempting to get on the gravy train too. 
We have pet cats, or should I say they have us as servants. As they scratch away at things so do I, in drawings. these are of our old cat Eclair.
I was setting up my new studio and came across this preliminary oil sketch for a portrait. I thought it worth putting an image up as it combines post modern aspects with some more traditional technical aspects. The form is created through fractured planal shapes and they visually stack to create volume. The effect of the red/brown field is to render it into a countershading, which both implies tone into the planes and defines a silhouette – an aspect of edge process.
I have been developing a painting from a drawing/watercolour of Bicheno. This is taking some time. To start:
